Recreation Co-op Student 

Are you interested in applying your talents and knowledge and gaining valuable experience? The City of Abbotsford has a four-month co-op opportunity starting May 2024, with an hourly wage of $19.21 – $24.47 dependent on year of study. If you are goal-oriented, accountable, and have a strong desire to contribute, we want to hear from you.

This position will work from Abbotsford Recreation Centre located at 2499 McMillan Rd, Abbotsford.

What you will do:

  • Assist the Community Recreation Coordinator and Programmers with all aspects of community recreation program support and administrative tasks
  • Assist with summer day camp programs,
  • Assist with Recreation special events
  • Assist with seasonal program offerings.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Enrolled in a Recreation / Leisure Services program is preferred, or related discipline, at a post- secondary institution
  • Ability to teach sport and recreation skills and manage large groups of children
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Able to provide a current police information check
  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License; Drivers Abstract will be required when applying
